This series explores the relationship between an individual and the larger concept of the nation, questioning how the homeland is personifed through a communal romanticization of what belonging to a country means.
Each painting is a letter addressed to Mexico, written by different individuals. The images that accompany them reproduce the photos or postcards that would be sent along with the letters. This is a collection of the subjective histories that we tell ourselves about our nation, a mediation between mediums, between language and image.
